The authoritative, always-current list lives at /policies/restricted-items — it reads directly from the same rules the publish check enforces, so it can't drift from what actually happens to your listing. This page explains the system from the seller's side.
Never allowed
These categories are not accepted from any marketplace seller under any documentation:
- Weapons, ammunition, and firearms
- Alcohol, tobacco, and cannabis/CBD
- Adult content
- Live animals
The seller agreement incorporates the restricted-items policy by reference — listing prohibited items is an agreement violation, not just a blocked publish.
The four restriction levels
Every rule in the restricted-items table carries one of four levels. From strictest to mildest:
| Level | Effect on your listing |
|---|---|
| Forbidden | Hard block. Cannot be listed. |
| Admin only | Only Wehoz's own house catalog may list it. Hard block for marketplace sellers. |
| Verified seller | Blocked unless your account has the specific required license document uploaded and approved. The block message names the license kind. |
| Review required | Allowed, but the listing is queued for human review before going live. |
How matching works
A listing is checked two ways:
- Category match — the listing's category is compared against restricted category rules.
- Keyword match — the listing title is scanned for each rule's keywords, case-insensitively.
When multiple rules match, the strictest one wins. Keyword matching means an innocent product can occasionally trip a rule — a "water gun" toy matching a weapons keyword, for example. That's by design: we'd rather review a false-positive than miss a real one.
Getting a licensed category unlocked
For verified seller categories:
- Upload the required license through your dashboard's documents page.
- Wait for it to be marked approved — you can see document status there.
- Ask us to re-run the affected listings, or resubmit your catalog rows.
If you think a block is wrong
Email help@wehoz.com with the SKU and the block message. Keyword false-positives can be resolved by a reviewer; category-level blocks (forbidden, admin-only) cannot.
