What the Brand Registry does not do

The honest scope statement — no proactive scanning, no image matching, no serialization, and what to do about each gap.

title: What the Brand Registry does not do description: The honest scope statement — no proactive scanning, no image matching, no serialization, and what to do about each gap. topic: brand-help order: 40 updated_at: "2026-08-07" tags: [brand, scope, limitations] related: [brand-registry-overview, report-a-listing, which-channel-to-use]

Most marketplaces describe their brand programs by what they include. We'd rather also tell you what's not there, so you can plan around it instead of discovering it during an incident.

Not included today

  • No proactive scanning. Wehoz does not crawl its own catalog looking for infringements of your brand. Enforcement triggers are publish-time checks (reseller allowlist, MAP floors, content and image scans in the general listing pipeline) and reports filed by you, buyers, or the public.
  • No image-match detection. There's no system comparing listing images against your product imagery to find copies.
  • No serialization or unit-level tracing. Nothing like a per-unit authenticity code program exists.
  • No automatic takedown of existing listings when you add a reseller restriction or a MAP floor. Those gate future publish attempts; live listings need a report.
  • No analytics suite. The dashboard manages your registries, resellers, MAP floors, and reports. It is a control panel, not a brand-intelligence product.
  • No formal appeals process for registry decisions yet — decisions are contested by replying to the decision email or writing to help@wehoz.com.

What fills the gaps

GapPractical mitigation
No scanningPeriodically search your brand on Wehoz; anything wrong, report it
No image matchingInclude image provenance in reports — reviewers act on evidence you supply
Existing listingsFile reports; publish-time rules prevent recurrence

Why we're telling you this

The registry's publish-time enforcement — allowlist blocking and MAP floors applied before a listing ever goes live — is genuinely strong, and some large marketplaces don't offer either. But a brand-protection strategy that assumes scanning or image matching exists here would have a hole in it. Build your plan on what's real; this page is the spec.
